Important information before you start your application

Welcome to the Fife Housing Register

Application Process / Housing Options Plan

Every new customer looking to apply for housing via the Fife Housing Register is required to complete a Housing Options Plan prior to completing a Housing Application. The Housing Options Plan will provide you with housing options, including advice on how to improve your current housing situation.

Assessment Process

If a housing application is completed we are currently working between 6-9 days to complete assessments of new housing applications, however our target is for a full assessment to be completed within 20 days.

Housing Functional Needs Assessment

Should you indicate on your application for housing form that you have a medical need that is being effective by where you are currently staying and should be taken into consideration for any potential future property, you will be asked to complete a Housing Functional Needs Assessment form.  This form will be assessed by the Housing Occupational Therapy Team.  Points may be awarded based on the outcome of their assessment but if required, they will also make recommendations on the types of properties you may be allocated.  This may also limit the property types you may be allocated to.

The Housing Occupational Therapy team are currently working through a backlog of over 1000 HFNA forms and assessments may take longer than usual but the team are working tirelessly to bring the backlog up to date.

Current Waiting List

There are currently around 14,000 applicants on the Fife Housing Register waiting list.

Fife Housing Register Properties

The Fife Housing Register partnership currently has 39,584 properties throughout Fife. We would encourage you to use the FHR Properties Map prior to completing your application to get an idea of what stock we have in certain letting areas.

Alternative Housing Options

Due to the high number of people waiting on housing and the low number of stock, we will not be able to house every applicant within Social Housing. We encourage all our applicants to investigate alternative housing options/tenures and have information on the website about these.
